Noa statement sent to the Lusa agency, the University of Coimbra (UC) states that the multilingual digital platform GoTriple, an innovative tool for knowledge exchange, was developed in the context of the European project TRIPLE (Transforming Research through Innovative Practices for Linked Interdisciplinary Exploration). ).
“The platform, hosted at https://gotriple.eu, is the result of intense collaboration between 22 institutions from 15 countries (largely members of the OPERAS consortium — Open Scholarly Communication in the European Research Area for Social Sciences and Humanities ), which received European funding of 5.6 million euros, under the Horizon 2020 research and innovation framework program,” he informs.
According to the UC vice-chancellor for Culture, Communication and Open Science, Delfim Leão, this tool gathers, in the launch phase, “more than 7 million documents and almost 6 million profiles”, already “the largest European discovery service for specific academic production in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities”.
“The contribution of the University of Coimbra to its development is perfectly aligned with the institutional policies to promote Open Science, multilingualism and the preservation of the Portuguese language as a central language in the communication of science”, he underlines.
In the note released today, the UC states that the development of this multidisciplinary and multilingual tool had taken place since 2019, with the aim of sharing articles and results of scientific publications, in addition to projects and profiles of researchers, which will be made available to citizens , companies and society as a whole — fulfilling the principles of open science and facilitating the interaction and supply/demand of funding for scientific research.
GoTriple, integrated into the OPAS portfolio of infrastructure services, includes features such as “a recommender system that suggests publications, authors and projects based on previous search queries” and “a trust-building system, which allows users to connect their social circles”.
It also includes a scientific funding collaboration service, which “helps researchers develop communication strategies and obtain seed funding for their projects.”
“The platform provides two innovative options for viewing research maps (Streamgraph and Knowledge Map) and an online commenting tool (Pundit) for users to comment on online publications and share their notes,” he points out.
According to UC, GoTriple also supports the construction of academic networks, allowing each user to publicize their knowledge and the projects they are involved in, get in touch with their counterparts through a “chat” functionality.
