by A milestone in the world of electrification has recently been reached: for the first time, a series production electric car can offer more than 1000 km of range without needing to be recharged.

The vehicle capable of such a feat is the Zeekr 001, owned by the Chinese company Geely. Although not many units of this model have been built yet, the symbology it already carries is undeniable.

Zeekr currently does not have a presence in Europe, however entry into our market is planned for late 2023.
This name is certainly unknown to many, but if we mention that it belongs Geely, which also owns Volvo, Polestar and part of Smart, is perhaps enough to indicate the size of this group.
According to Zeekr, there’s 1032 km of total range your 001 can extract from the massive 140 kWh batterybefore it inevitably needs to be recharged.
This is possible not only thanks to the use of this large battery, but also the higher density. In practice, this means it can house more storage capacity while occupying the same physical space.
This inevitably opens the doors to the possibility of traveling ever greater distances without the need for stops, similar to what is still the case with cars that only use traditional heat engines.
Zeekr 001 in detail
The vehicle in question is a crossover with a length of almost 5 meters and a wheelbase of 3 meters, which is placed under the SEA platform, specially designed for the group’s electric vehicles.
To move the 001, two electric motors are used, one for each axle, which together can add up to 543 horsepower and 700 Nm of peak torque.
These figures ensure that the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 3.8 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 200 km/h.
Considering the size of the battery used, which certainly adds considerable weight to the set, we have to admit that the performance of this car is respectable.
The interior is modern and simplistic, dominated by the massive 15-inch central screen. The instrument panel uses a smaller, 8.8-inch screen, and for rear-seat passengers, a third, 5.7-inch screen is available.
And since we’re talking about the rear seats, it should be noted that the absence of a transmission tunnel does wonders for the habitability and available spaces there.
Other equipment is also available, including heated and cooled front seats, leather upholstery, automatic tri-zone climate control, a Yamaha sound system, adaptive air suspension and LED matrix headlights.
More than 1000 km range, but no is for everything…
Unfortunately, only 1000 copies of the Zeekr 001 with a 140 kWh battery will be made, so we can consider this variant as a special and limited edition.
The remaining units will offer ranges between 500 and 700 km, which are also interesting prices.
What is the price of Zeekr 001?
The first units of the Zeekr 001 long-range electric model will be delivered in the first quarter of this year, and the price in the Chinese market starts from 300,000 yuan and can reach 386,000 yuan, which converted into euros represents a price between 40 and 50 thousand euro.
Zeekr also promises a European launch of its 001 electric vehicle, but there are no details yet on the dates and versions that will be available, we can only wait.
