Spain international Pedro Porro will join Tottenham on loan from Sporting in a deal that includes a mandatory buyout clause for the Londoners at the end of the season, the Premier League club announced on Tuesday.

“We are extremely pleased to announce the signing of Pedro Porro from Sporting. The right-back will join the club on loan until the end of the season, with a transfer obligation to become permanent in the summer. Porro will wear the number 23.” Tottenham Hotspur said in a statement published on the official website.

Shortly afterwards, Sporting notified the Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários (CMVM) of the details of the deal, informing that they will receive five million euros (ME) for the transfer and that “the said agreement includes the option to acquire the rights outright. sports rights of a football player, for the amount of 40 million euros, which can be exercised by Tottenham Hotspur or Sporting SAD with effect from 1 July 2023 and a subsequent definitive transfer of the player to Tottenham Hotspur”.

SAD leonina also states that “the mechanism of solidarity due to third clubs will be supported by approximately 95 euros from Tottenham”, and that “the costs with mediation services related to the said transfer amount to 427 thousand euros, to which will be added the amount of 2.4 ME in case of permanent transfer of the player”.

Poro arrived at Sporting in the 2020/21 season on loan from Manchester City, having been loaned out by the Citizens to Valladolid the previous season in 2019/20.

Trained between Don Benito and Rayo Vallecano, the right-back represented Girona in 2018/19, a season in which he made 34 appearances for the Spanish league side, being signed at the end of that season by Manchester City.

The winger was later loaned to Sporting for two seasons, with the Lions informing him on 16 May 2022 that they had activated the option to buy the Spain international – estimated at €8.5 million – who signed until 2025 with release clause. 45 million euros.
