Nestlé Portugal has increased the salaries of its employees by 1,000 euros/year in 2022, which was cumulative with the annual increase verified in March, the company said.
“We increased the annual salary of all workers in Portugal by 1,000 euros, which was more important for people who had a lower salary.”said Nestlé Portugal general manager Anna Lenz, speaking to reporters in Lisbon at the company’s 100-year anniversary.
These workers also benefit from the annual raise, which normally takes place in March.
In 2022, Nestlé Portugal totaled €677 million in 2022, an annual increase of 8.3%.
“Sales reached 677 million euros, 52 million euros more than in 2021, which assumes an increase of 8.3%,” said Nestlé Portugal’s chief financial officer, Silvia Balcells, who was speaking at a press conference at the company’s headquarters in Lisbon.
This result includes exports worth 125 million euros.
Silvia Balcells pointed out that 2022 was a “complex year for families, communities but also for companies”.
Thus, the company reduced its profitability, according to the results of the group in Europe.
Nestlé Portugal has invested 73 million euros in 2022, of which 30 million in operations and 43 million to support marketing and communication activities.
“We invested 73 million euros in 2022 […]30 million euros in our operations and 43 million euros in marketing and support for our brands,” said Nestlé Portugal’s chief financial officer, Silvia Balcells, who was speaking at a press conference at the company’s headquarters in Lisbon.
In terms of investments in the brand’s operations, Balcells emphasized improving factory efficiency and increasing capacity.
This item also includes refurbishment work as the brand celebrates 100 years in Portugal.
In 2023, Nestlé expects to maintain this rate of investment.
Last year, more than 50% of the total needs for raw materials, packaging materials and services, worth 140 million euros, were purchased locally.
The general manager of Nestlé Portugal, Anna Lenz, guaranteed today that the company wants to continue investing in this sector, but noted that it will not be possible to reach 100% “because the supply is limited”.
Nestlé has brands such as Friskies, KitKat, Mocambo, Sical, Purina, Nescafé, Nestum and Cerelac.
