At the 2023 Oscars, which took place this Sunday (12.03), the bow starred in the looks of celebrities such as Florence Pugh and Vanessa Hudgens, decorating the former’s sculpted hairstyle and completing the latter’s classic bun. But it wasn’t just during the film awards that the accessory recently appeared. In the winter season of 2023, the item was paraded by many brands, such as Max Mara and Simone Rocha, proving that the bow is, once again, in the spotlight in the world of beauty.
At London Fashion Week, Simone Rocha used colorful bows spread over models’ faces, while Susan Fang did bows in London, sometimes on the top of the head, sometimes adorning the sides of the hair. In Milan, Max Mara showed a classic ponytail surrounded by a maximalist version of the accessory, and Dior, in Paris, took to the catwalks a wide tiara with a bow at the bottom of the threads.
Despite being a classic accessory, the season for red carpets and fashion shows shows that it’s also possible to innovate with the item by breaking out of the ordinary in how it’s applied, as is the case with the non-traditional hairstyle created by artist Peter Lux for Florence Pugh last night. At Balmain, hairstylist Sam Macknight went one step further and created a bow bun using the models’ hair.
In Paris street style, Blackpink singer Jennie was another example. The artist opted for a look with trendy braids that featured the bow as the main star. One thing is for sure: from the traditional ponytail to the architectural look, the bow is back on trend in productions.
