There have always been doubts about Aston Martin’s real ability to compete for a place among the top teams in the Formula 1 world standings, despite Lawrence Stroll’s strong investment. However, the good start to this season, in the opinion of former driver and world champion of the sector Damon Hill, proved that the investment paid off competitively.
“Lawrence spent money and put this team together and I think everyone thought, ‘Lawrence you know you’re going to lose a lot of money here,'” Hill told Britain’s Sky channel. “But he proved everyone wrong. He assembled this team, produced the car. They have Dan Fallows, who is ex-Red Bull and knows a thing or two about what Red Bull is doing. So there is knowledge of what is going on between the rivals, but they certainly won’t be getting any help from Red Bull from now on.”
Aston Martin invested heavily in the Silverstone factory, making it one of the most advanced in Formula 1 when work was completed, in addition to increasing its technical capacity with the arrival of several engineers from Red Bull and other top F1 teams. Dan Fallows was one of the more controversial cases, with Red Bull and Aston Martin reaching a settlement before the dispute between the parties reached court.
